Jeewan Mala Hospital, one of the country’s oldest private hospitals in Delhi, began operations in 1920. This historic hospital is the brain child of the late Dr. Bodh Raj Sabharwal, who was a pioneering surgeon in India. Jeewan Mala is the only hospital in North India to be recognized under FOGSI Mumbai (Federation of Obs and Gynae Society of India) and IMA (Indian Medical Association) academy of medical sciences for giving training in Gynae laparoscopic surgeries. Both the promoters, Dr Malvika and Dr Vinay Sabharwal come with an experience of more than 20 years in the field of Minimal Access Surgery. In 2008, Dr. Malvika Sabharwal was awarded the Padma Shree by Pratibha Patil Hon. President of India, for her work in Gynae -endoscopy and Laparoscopy.
Speaking on the announcement, Dr Malvika Sabharwal said, “Ambulatory surgery represents a progressive dimension of healthcare delivery in India. The fact that it is being adopted rapidly by all stakeholders: insurance companies, doctors and the patient community is testimony to the tremendous value offered by Nova’s Ambulatory Surgical Centers”. Concurring with her, Dr. Vinay Sabharwal said “We are excited to be a part of Nova Specialty Surgery. Our collaboration with Nova will be the start of a new era for JMH in the field of healthcare. We hope our partnership with NOVA will contribute to our mission of always being ahead of the curve in the field of healthcare delivery.”
After joining hands with JMH, Nova will be taking over the new block of the hospital for operations and management. The operations in the old block too will be managed by Nova. The Nova Management plans to add additional facilities (5 Operations Theaters), services and 30 additional surgeons to the existing Jeewan Mala Hospital. The facilities will be upgraded without disrupting existing operations.
